Machester on the Move

A university education in an urban setting is proving attractive to Manchester, N.H., area residents, as record numbers of students have enrolled in UNH-Manchester's undergraduate and graduate programs.

Undergraduate enrollment is 808, up 5 percent over last year. Graduate enrollment is 321, an increase of 40 percent from 2002.

UNH-Manchester's urban mission means education often has a city connection. Students enrolled in its new B.A. in business degree, for example, take on internships in nearby businesses, such as DEKA, home of the Segway, or the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce's new Visitor and Convention Bureau. Communication arts students have interned at the Manchester mayor's office and a variety of radio stations.
