Astronaut Rick Linnehan '80, who in April was launched into space for the second time aboard NASA's space shuttle Columbia, carried a UNH flag with him into orbit. In an e-mail message from space to friends at the University, he thanked them and President Joan Leitzel for coming to Florida to witness the launch. Here's a few excerpts:
"It means a lot to me to be able to do something for UNH; I thoroughly enjoyed my years there and it's nice to do something for it...I've had the flag out and have taken some pictures and will get some others soon!
"The first launch I saw close up was amazing..the noise and the sonic vibrations are incredible when they reach you...sound like the prevailing winds and weather set up the perfect viewing for you all.
"I'm glad President Leitzel made it down...The flag is safe and sound...Thanks for coming!
