For many UNH hockey fans and hockey alumni, Charlie Holt is already a legend. But in May, the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation made it official when it named Holt, who coached men's ice hockey at UNH from 1968-'86, the 2010 Legend of Hockey. "Coach Holt knew how to bring out the best in every player," wrote current UNH hockey coach Dick Umile '72 (See his story in the Spring '00 issue) after his former coach and mentor died in 2000. "Right up to the end of his life, he could tell you the name of every young man who had ever played for him and what his special skills had been." Above, hats with Holt's name are tossed on the ice for a hat trick during his last game.
