Young P. Dawkins III, president of the UNH Foundation, has accepted the position of vice principal for development at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. President Ann Weaver Hart said Dawkins, through his leadership, "raised the visibility of UNH to a new level." A national search for a new president of the UNH Foundation has begun.

Joseph C. Klewicki has been named the new dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Currently the chair of the mechanical engineering department at the University of Utah, Klewicki will start at UNH Aug. 15. He is a recognized expert in fluid mechanics and boundary layer turbulence.

Bill Herrion was named UNH's 20th head men's basketball coach in May. Herrion was most recently the associate head coach at the University of Arkansas. Previously he served as the head coach at East Carolina University from 1999 to 2005 and the head coach at Drexel University from 1991 to 1999. Herrion led Drexel to three NCAA tournament appearances in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

Igor Tsukrov, mechanical engineering associate professor, has received a Fulbright Award to study at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa, for six months. He will teach and conduct joint research at the school's Center for Composite Materials.

Meredith Hall '95G, assistant director of UNH's composition program, was awarded the 2005 Gift of Freedom Award for her creative nonfiction. The $50,000 award from A Room of Her Own Foundation is the largest literary grant of its kind in the country. Hall was also awarded the 2005 Pushcart Prize.

Ross Gittell, James R. Carter Professor of Management at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, received the Champion of Educational Opportunity award from the N.H. Educational Opportunity Association in March.

John Carroll '05, a history and German major, has received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English and American studies in Germany.

Peter Bianca '05, a clarinetist who majored in music education, performed with the National Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in May.
