Trudging through the White Mountains last summer in search of the elusive Bicknell's thrush, Steve Hale and fellow UNH graduate students also collected data on tree damage from ozone holes and acid rain. Their work will produce maps of suitable Bicknell's thrush habitats, and also help to assess changes in the spruce forests, through comparisons to existing satellite imagery charts.
