Focus on Franchising

A gift from the founder of Dunkin' Donuts has enabled UNH to establish a new international center for the study of franchising. The center, named in honor of the late William Rosenberg, will offer graduate and undergraduate courses, conduct research and organize international symposia on topics related to franchising. Rosenberg was a pioneer in the field of franchising, starting Dunkin' Donuts with a single cart selling coffee and pastries in 1946. Through the efforts of entrepreneurs like Rosenberg, franchising has become a major contributor to the international economy, but it has received relatively little attention. The new center positions UNH to become the pre-eminent academic institution in this field. ~
